When I converted to windows 10 that capability is not there. While the cards digital TV functionality has been supported under Linux since kernel 2.6.27, analog support is not yet implemented.

I've had good luck with Hauppauge cards, and I want a set and forget setup, but if someone has a better recommendation, I'm open to suggestions. I was able to use the subject Hauppauge tuner with Windows 7 media center to capture external videos from my Beta machine. The Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 is an ATSC PCIe card from Hauppauge. Which leads me to my main question, will the HVR-1250 be suitable for simply recording, then post-converting, since as far as I can tell, it lacks onboard mpeg2? It seems to want cards with onboard mpeg2. I thought of looking for a card capable of recording xvid, but I'm not sure any do, and wasn't sure if/what support GBPVR would have. So I'd like to grab HD and QAM from the cable, then convert that to xvid. I'm not so concerned with HD, since the xbox can't support it, but better quality in = better quality out. xvid files are smaller, so I can save more shows this way as well.
